In Front 4×4 are a family owned Eastern Suburbs 4×4 Mechanic workshop based in Bayswater, VIC. We love being a part of the 4×4 community, and when we’re not at the workshop we’ll be spending time outdoors and hanging out other 4×4 enthusiasts. Our head mechanic, Chris Berry, has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, so you can ensure your vehicle is in safe hands. For most of his career Chris has specialised in servicing, repairing and accessorising 4×4 vehicles. You’re not likely to have a problem that Chris hasn’t seen before! We fix Suspensions {somehow that happens when you go bush bashing} we can do upgrades of your suspensions for that added adrenaline adventure of 4 wheel driving. We help you with 4×4 Brake upgrades for those constant braking down hills and having that extra ability to stop when you need to. We can supply and advise you about the brake pads you need, or just the standard brake pads for your 4wd. Brake upgrades are an important safety asset for yourself, friends and your family, Would you agree?

We get that having your car in the workshop creates a logistical headache for many of our customers. To combat this, we have a dual cab Triton with a lockable tub. Available on a ‘first in’ basis. There is a $25 admin fee and you will be required to cover expenses sich as fuel and tolls. If you’d like to take advantage of our loan car, be sure to make mention of it when you book

Payment is due on collection of your vehicle, unless arranged prior. We accept Cash, Visa & Mastercard credit cards, Visa and Mastercard debit cards as well as Electronic Transfers (confirmation must be emailed prior to vehicle collection) At present we do not offer Bpay, PayPal or buy now, pay later services

We occassionally get asked ‘do you do fixed price servicing’ and the answer is simply, no. To be honest, we don’t know how workshops offer fixed price servicing considering the extraordinary amount of variables there are between the many makes and models of cars. When providing a quote on 4WD servicing and repairs, we always start by asking for the vehicle’s make and model, registration and current odometer reading. This helps us identify the *service requirements* for your vehicle.

As for *costs*, it all comes down to vehicle specifics. Parts, oils and filters have so much variance in price from vehicle to vehicle, which makes a difference to the total cost of the service.

New car servicing, repairs and warranties – what’s the rules?2022-02-17T01:31:04+00:00

Another really important question we get asked often, is ‘do you maintain new car warranties‘? And of course we say, YES!

In 2018, the Australian Consumer Law published an industry guide for Motor Vehicle Sales & Repairs. In this guide it states: “Any suggestion by manufacturers or dealers that vehicles need to be serviced at a licensed dealer to maintain the owner’s consumer guarantee rights is not correct”

Our workshop performs new car servicing in accordance to with the guidelines, knowing that we must abide by the ‘minimum essential requirements’, which includes:

  • Using quality spare parts from reputable suppliers
  • Servicing in accordance with manufacturers instructions
  • Staff are trained, supervised and qualified
  • Fluids and lubricants meet manufacturers specifications

Can you stamp the log book?2022-02-17T01:29:51+00:00

The ACCC have confirmed that even if a logbook states that it should be stamped by an ‘authorised dealer’, an independent repairer may sign or stamp the relevant page of your service logbook (once service is completed) without it affecting the manufacturer’s warranty, provided any other requirements, like the ones mentioned above, are met (i.e. the service is carried about by qualified staff etc).  You can read more about servicing and logbooks on the webpage
